New York Islanders Children’s Foundation

History
The Islanders Children’s Foundation is a New York State not for profit foundation, qualified under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and qualified as a public charity. The Islanders Children’s Foundation was created in the Summer of 2003.
Mission
The Islanders Children’s Foundation is dedicated to supporting Long Island based non-profit organization that provides opportunities to children. The Foundation will work with those children’s charities that focus on the areas of health, education, and youth hockey development. Our fans, through their participation in our numerous fundraising events and activities, raise funding for the Foundation.
Fundraising
Throughout the course of the season the players, and their wives work to hold various in game fundraisers, raffles, and auctions. The following are held throughout the season:
- Halloween Mask Raffle
- Holiday Ornament Auction
- Valentine’s Day Puck Surprise
- 50/50 raffle at each Islanders home game
- Sticks out of the Hands Auction
- Core of Four Jersey Auction
- Al Arbour Night Jersey Auction
- Skate with the Greats Dinner
Grant Request Guidelines
Foundation Type: Independent Public Foundation
Purpose and Activities: The foundation’s philanthropic activities focus on two strategic themes: children and ice hockey.
Fields of Interest: Youth development, youth ice hockey, ice hockey education, anything that supports the enhancement of today’s children and promotes youth participation in the sport of ice hockey.
Types of Support: Special projects, seed money, continuing support, scholarships.
Limitations: No grants for purely personal needs or individuals, no support for religious or sectarian purposes or social or fraternal organizations. No grants to individuals or for deficit financing, matching gifts or conferences. No loans.

Final Notification: No later than December 31.
