Islanders 360 |
| I am a lifelong Islanders fan originally from Baldwin, currently living in Plainview. I work as a Finance Manager in the semiconductor industry. My family has had season tickets since 1973, two years before I was born. The goal of "Islanders 360" is to provide a venue for all fans to read about and discuss the team, beyond what you can find in a traditional newspaper or website. I hope to provide a unique perspective on issues that normally get overlooked and undervalued. I'd love to see the blog become a place that Islanders fans congregate to discuss and debate the good and the bad as we progress through the 2007-2008 season. |

The Outsider
|
Islanders Outsider |
Ken Rosenblatt has been rooting for the Islanders for 27 years thanks to Ken Morrow and the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. Born during the inaugural season of Islanders hockey, Ken was raised in Chappaqua, NY, and currently resides in Manhattan with his wife. By day he is an author, editor, and compositor of higher education textbooks on information systems and software certification training.
Ken believes that Islanders Outsider is merely one voice among many that hopes to enrich the experience of being a fan of the New York Islanders. His main goal for Islanders Outsider is simply to have people look forward to visiting again and again because it makes for a good read and presents interesting perspectives on issues relevant to the team and its fans. He welcomes enthusiastic and respectful participation by readers. |

Greetings from Islander Country |
I was born and raised in Queens, NY. Although we plan to move back to the City within a few months, my wife and I currently reside in Hudson County, NJ. I am 30 years old and work in NYC in a finance position. My interests, aside the obvious of Islander hockey, include fishing (saltwater), attending the occasional Jet game, and socializing with friends and family.
I’ve never written a blog before, but I hope to create a product that is unique; either by approaching commonly written Islander news and analysis from different angles, or by addressing unique ideas which others are simply not writing about. I would like to blog about hockey with a little bit of satire, and above all write about the Isles in a way that other fans can enjoy and relate. |

| Dee Karl, 7th Woman |
Unique perspectives from 7th Woman |
Dee Karl grew up in countless neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens but became an “Islander” when her family finally settled in Jericho in the late 70’s. Coming from a family of musicians rather than sports fans, she missed the Islanders’ dynasty years even though she lived in their own backyard. Once an adult, she settled and still resides on the beautiful, beach lined South Shore of Long Island. It’s a 45 minute drive to the Coliseum, but it’s a small price to pay for NHL Hockey. The love for hockey came in 1992 when she bought a bar and realized sports HAD to be on the TV. By 2003 she had become a passionate Islanders fan. She entered and won the 2004 NHL 7th Man contest for the NY Islanders.
She’s spent more than 20 years in the cable television publishing industry in various capacities and was the Managing Editor for one of cable’s first premium channel magazines. Love of hockey is followed closely by a love of food and she has owned a catering company and a 62 seat restaurant. As a non-traditional fan of the NHL she’ll cover Islander hockey from angles you won’t find in other’s writing. It’s a more personal look at the industry, on ice and off, and maybe even a recipe or two. |

The Bouncing Puck: Ravings of an Islander's Blogger |
Abandoned by wolves, and raised by my parents, I came to Long Island in 1980's during the heady days of Islanders dynasty. Growing up on the "mean streets" of Massapequa, we played street hockey...trying to emulate our heroes. These days, at the "ripe' age of 36 years old, I live in Freeport, newly married, and work in the big city, right across from our "friends" who play in MSG. Having graduated from an expensive and prestigious art school, I slave each dull day at a 100 year old publishing firm in New York City as a Designer and Production expert. I put together everything from magazines, books, web images, media kits, and promotional material.
My ultimate goal with my blog is to continue my attempt at world domination. My goal is to continue to chase my dream of writing full-time while I get to expound on my favorite team in my favorite sport. |

Voice of the Islander Fans |
| I was raised in Bethpage Long Island and now reside in Massapequa Long Island. I am in my Mid 30’s and I am an estimator and engineer for a local Electrical Contractor. My goals for this blog are to voice not only my opinions, but the opinions of so many Islander fans that never get the chance to get their opinions heard because of the lack of forums available to us in the media. Lack of coverage on the Islanders is almost criminal in local papers, local TV, on the internet and especially local sports radio talk shows. There are plenty of Islander fans looking for opinions and information on their favorite team. This is evident by the amount of traffic on the Islanders official web site. The Islanders organization continue to provide the fans the opportunity to speak out and be vocal and no matter what our opinions are seem to really listen and care what we think. |

IslesBlogger.com |
Michael Schuerlein is a 27-year old resident of Bethpage, NY and is a life long New York Islanders fan. An Air Conditioning and Heating mechanic by trade; he is also a published writer and photographer in the automotive industry. Having the writing experience, Michael decided it would be a good idea to take one of his favorite hobbies and incorporate his other hobby - hockey, into the mix.
Michael has been playing hockey in one form or another since his early childhood days of street hockey. He played for the Bethpage Golden Eagle ice hockey team during high school and continues to play ice and roller hockey to this day. He intends to show people through his site that a blog can be captivating and bring a different complementary view to what the media offers through print and the web.

Okposo Net |
| Born in 1975, I grew up along with the great Islanders dynasty in Huntington, New York. My first memories of hockey were going to a sold-out Nassau Coliseum and fighting through the traffic to see my favorites Mike Bossy and Denis Potvin. My senior year in high school was special, since it was 1993, the last great Islanders playoff moment spent among my local friends. David Volek's goal against Pittsburgh will remain a cherished memory forever. I went off to Atlanta (Emory University), a town where hockey was a foreign word, and somewhat lost my enthusiam for the Isles. Their play during the mid- and late-90's didn't help. But now, with new leadership and vision, the Islanders are back and so am I. I hope that Ted Nolan leads this franchise to a Cup, and I think one of the players who may help him in the near future is Kyle Okposo. I want all of the great hometown fans to know as much about this future star as possible, and that's why I started this blog. |

Still Drivin' |
| A former sports writer and five-time winner of New York Press Association sports writing awards -- including Best Sports Column and Sports Writer of the Year -- Michael Gasparino is a web site manager and freelance writer who also blogs about the Mets when the hockey season is on ice. He looks forward to his first season blogging about the Islanders, who spoiled him rotten as a teenager by winning four straight Stanley Cups. Still Drivin' will document the newest Islanders era and its quest to claim that elusive "one for the thumb," hoping to inform as well as entertain with insight and humor. Mr. Gasparino -- who wears No. 27 on his slow-pitch softball and over-30 hockey teams in honor of John Tonelli and wonders why that number is not retired -- also enjoys raising two children with his lovely wife, and hopes they, like their father, learn to despise the Rangers with the heat of a thousand suns. |

New York Islander Fan Central |
| NYIsles1 is a life long New York Islander fan back to 1975 who grew up watching the club on Channel 9 in Queens where I work and live with my wife and family today. My hobbies are movies, the sports media business and the occasional Giants football game and socializing with friends and family. I owned the popular Islander Sound Tigers mailing list on yahoo for seven years and wrote for Hockey's Future Prospect Website for three years while moderating their message board. Thanks to our great fans at both sites we got through a lockout together. NY Islander Fan Central is written based on my perspective on the NY Islanders. This will be a very active blog packed with daily updates and commentary on all subjects related to the team that will bring in information from all angles and at times expand to NHL subjects. My goal with this blog is to provide a hockey blog from not only my perspective as a fan but as someone who puts the articles written about the club under the spotlight and asks the tough questions as to the media's perspective. I'm looking forward to talking hockey with everyone on the blog and message board. |
