The Islanders Fight Cancer initiative, in its 14th season, stands as one of the cornerstones of the team’s official charity, the Islanders Children’s Foundation (ICF). Every year, a variety of special fundraisers are held at Nassau Coliseum, during games and on-line. These efforts will continue even with the current absence of the NHL season.
However, the Islanders Fight Cancer initiative and the numerous children, facilities and awareness organizations who benefit from these fundraising events, may lose a major source of donations that they normally count on to help meet annual budgets and support their needs. The Islanders organization is asking fans of the orange & blue to take up this cause online and in their community. Whether it be in your own households, schools or workplaces, we hope you’ll help Long Island’s team give back and support those who need us the most right now.
If you’d like to make a donation to the Islanders Children’s Foundation, which will then be filtered to local cancer hospitals, research facilities and awareness organizations, please CLICK HERE.
Throughout October, NewYorkIslanders.com will be posting inspirational survivor stories from our very own backyard. These stories come from the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York Survivors Facing Forward Program. If you have a story you’d like to share from a friend, family member, co-worker or yourself, please feel free to send it our way, along with some pictures, at nyisocialmedia@gmail.com.
Cancer doesn’t take a day off and neither will the Islanders organization as we join the fight to find a cure for cancer.
