Ryan Strome, Griffin Reinhart and the rest of Team Canada emerged with a 4-1 victory over Russia on Monday. Neither Islanders prospect found the score sheet as Canada finished the preliminary round with a perfect 4-0-0 record, earning a bye in the first round of the playoff bracket.
The Canadians scored power play goals less than two minutes apart in the first period. Russia drew the difference back to a single goal later in the period, but Canada added a goal in the second and another (empty-net) in the third.
Canada finished round robin play with a plus-13 goal differential in four games and will have two days off before playing in the semifinals. They await the results of the Jan. 2 quarterfinal matchups between the Czech Republic and the USA, as well as Russia vs. Switzerland.
