Jr. Islanders - Quebec Blog Day 2
Twenty of the best 11 and 12-year-old hockey players from Long Island are participating in the 54th Annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament from Feb. 13-24. About 2,300 young hockey players from 16 countries come to Quebec to participate in the “World Championships of Pee-Wee Hockey.”
With the support from Islanders management and staff, the Junior Islanders are considered an important part of the Islanders family. Check this blog for updates about the team on and off the ice in Quebec City.
Today was a great day but a little rough at the same time. We had a Winter Classic game this morning. They love penalty shots up here. We had about six in one game but unfortunately lost 4-2 to the Flyers. Luckily it was only an exhibition game.
The rink was amazing. It overlooked the mountains and they skated from the locker room to the bench. Then we scheduled a game at 2 p.m. against the Connecticut Yankees, but lost 6-2. We were not playing so hot.
At night the boys spent time with their billet families and saw the carnival and parade. They got to see the ice sculptures and ride on a toboggan. Tomorrow we have another Winter Classic at 10:30 a.m.
