Team USA Scores Touchdown in 7-1 Win Over Slovakia

It took Team USA a period to find their legs, but once they did, they ran away with a 7-1 win over Team Slovakia on Thursday morning.

Tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, the Americans scored six, second-period goals en route to the dominant victory. Phil Kessel led the U.S. with three points (one goal, two assists) while Paul Stastny (two goals), John Carlson (one goal, one assist), Patrick Kane (two assists), T.J. Oshie (2A) and James van Riemsdyk (2A) each had two points.

In total 11 different players recorded at least a point for the Americans, who beat the Slovaks for the first time in Olympic play. Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in his Olympic debut.

Team USA’s next game is against Team Russia on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time (NBCSN, CBC).
