Canada Clinches First

CANADA 5, BELARUS 1Ryan O’Reilly scored twice to lead the way as Canada locked up the top spot in the Helsinki Group at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship with a 5-1 win over Belarus on Tuesday.
the No. 1 seed ensures it can't face the powerhouse Russians until at least the final - good news given that Russia has knocked Canada out of the tournament the last four years.
Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf each had a goal and an assist while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored for Canada (6-0-1).
John Tavares recorded an assist on Nugent-Hopkins' goal in the second period. Tavares then immediatley took a double-minor for roughing, coming to the aid of Nugent-Hopkins in a skirmish after the goal.
