The Sound Tigers play three games this week, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 6 when they host the Norfolk Admirals at 11:00 a.m. The teams will meet eight times this season, up from four matchups in 2011-12. The Sound Tigers went 1-1 at home against the Admirals last season, and 1-3 overall.
The team hits the road for a 7 p.m. tilt on Friday, Nov. 9 against the Manchester Monarchs. The Sound Tigers went 3-1-1-1 in the head-to-head series last season, with three games going beyond 60 minutes.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, the Sound Tigers return home to face the Connecticut Whale for the second time this season. The in-state rivals met in the season-opener on Oct. 12, with Bridgeport skating to a 6-4 victory. Forward Nino Niederreiter picked up two assists on Nov. 3 vs. Hershey and added a goal the next day vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He leads the team with five goals and nine points, and has points in six of the Sound Tigers’ eight games this season.
Forward Brock Nelson earned first star of the game honors on Nov. 3 with a goal and an assist, and scored another goal on Nov. 4. Nelson is tied for fourth among AHL rookies with four goals and second on the team with seven points.
The Sound Tigers are 2-1-0-0 at Webster Bank Arena and 3-2-0-0 away from home this season. Bridgeport is one of five teams (Manchester Monarchs, Springfield Falcons, Charlotte Checkers, Houston Aeros) with a winning record both at home and away.
During the Nov. 3 win against Hershey, The Sound Tigers went 3-for-11 on the power play. In eight games, the Sound Tigers have received power play goals from six different skaters, including Casey Cizikas and Brandon DeFazio, who each have two.
