Sound Tigers look to rebound from three-game losing skid with a three-in-three this weekend

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers lost all three of their games last week, falling to 10-7-0-0 on the season. With 20 points, the Sound Tigers sit in second place in the Northeast Division, four points behind the Springfield Falcons, and sixth in the Eastern Conference.

UP NEXT

Bridgeport has three games in three days over the weekend, starting on the road against the Hersey Bears on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 p.m. This will be the Sound Tigers second meeting with the Bears this season. Bridgeport earned a 3-2 win in the previous matchup on Nov. 3 at Webster Bank Arena.

The team returns home to face the Worcester Sharks on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. The Sound Tigers look to earn their first win against the Sharks this season, having lost both of the teams’ meetings on Oct 26 and Oct 28.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, at 5:00 p.m, Bridgeport finishes the weekend at home against the Norfolk Admirals. The Sound Tigers went 1-3-0-0 last season against the Calder Cup Champions, but won the lone matchup between the teams earlier this season.

Left Wing Nino Niederreiter saw his nine-game point streak come to an end on Nov. 23 against the Whale. During his streak, the Swiss winger compiled five goals and seven assists. He has 12 points in 11 November games and leads the Sound Tigers in both goals (nine) and points (18).

The Sound Tigers’ power-play goal streak came to an end Nov. 24 in a 6-1 loss against the Binghamton Senators. Bridgeport registered at least one power-play goal in eight consecutive games prior to Saturday’s loss, and boast the second-ranked power play in the AHL at 24.7%

Goaltender Anders Nilsson is 4-1-0-0 in five starts since returning from injury earlier in November. Through six games, Nilsson has a .904 save percentage, complemented by a 2.91 GAA.

Center David Ullstrom registered his second three-point game in the month of November against the Whale on Nov. 23. The Jonkoping, SWE native now has three goals and four assists in five games since returning from injury on Nov. 17.

Rookie forward Johan Sundstrom registered his first multi-goal game of his professional career against Connecticut on Friday, and has nine points (four goals, five assists) in 11 November games, moving him up to third in team scoring with 11 points (five goals, six assists).

At 5-2-0-0, the Sound Tigers are tied for sixth in the AHL in home winning percentage, and look to improve their record with two games at Webster Bank Arena this weekend. Bridgeport sits behind only the Abbotsford Heat (8-0-1-0), Binghamton Senators (6-1-1-0), Chicago Wolves (5-1-1-0), Toronto Marlies (4-1-0-1) and Oklahoma City Barons (6-2-1-1) in home winning percentage.
