Reinhart’s three-point night leads Edmonton

Defenseman Griffin Reinhart set a season-high with three points (one goal, two assists) in the Edmonton Oil Kings (Western Hockey League) 4-2 win against the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, Dec. 8. The Islanders first round (fourth overall) selection in the 2012 NHL Draft scored the game’s first goal on the power play during the first period, and picked up two assists in the third. The 18-year-old Oil Kings captain leads team defensemen with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) and is tied for the team lead with a plus-9 rating.

Strome’s streak ends at 15

On Thursday, Dec. 6, center Ryan Strome posted a three-point night for the Niagara IceDogs (Ontario Hockey League) in their 9-0 rout of the Ottawa 67’s. Fellow Islanders prospects Mitchell Theoret (two assists) and Jesse Graham (one assist) also found the score sheet during the game. The following day, in a 5-2 loss to the London Knights, Theoret and Graham each posted assists but Strome was unable to register a point for the first time since Oct. 27. During his 15-game point streak, the Islanders first round (fifth overall) selection in the 2011 NHL Draft registered 41 points (13 goals, 28 assists) and climbed to the top of the OHL in scoring.

Four prospects selected for WJC Camps

Of the 37 players invited to Canada’s camp, 25 will make the final roster for the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia. Defenseman Ville Pokka is one of 29 players invited to attend Finland’s selection camp.
