Islanders 2012-13 Regular Season Schedule Announced

Opening night set for Saturday, Jan. 19 against New Jersey

The New York Islanders have released their schedule for the 2012-13 regular season. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the team will open at home against the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m.

Two days later, the Islanders will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 1 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, Jan. 21). The matinee is also a Super Hero Celebration game, featuring meet-and-greet opportunities with Marvel characters Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Thor.

This year’s 48-game schedule will feature five meetings for the Islanders against the division-rival Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Islanders will take on fellow Atlantic Division foes the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, four times apiece.

John Tavares and the Islanders will host their cross-town rivals, the Rangers, on Thursday, Mar. 7 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m.. In addition to the Jan. 19 season opener, the Islanders will face-off at home against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Devils on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m..

The Penguins make their way to Nassau Coliseum on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Friday, March 22, with both games at 7 p.m. The Islanders will also host the Flyers on Monday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 7 p.m.

The Islanders final regular-season home game is set for Tuesday, Apr. 16 against the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m.

Full and partial ticket plans for the 2012-2013 season are now available, as are group outings for each of the 24 home games.
