Kichton lights the lamp
Islanders 2011 draft pick Brenden Kichton continued his torrid scoring pace with five points (three goals, two assists) in three games last week for the Spokane Chiefs (Western Hockey League). On Feb. 28 at Everett, the Edmonton, AB native scored the eventual game-winning power play goal with less than a second remaining in the first period and tacked on an insurance goal in the third period as the Chiefs cruised to a 4-1 victory. The next night at Victoria, Kichton registered a goal and two assists, including a helper in overtime for a 4-3 win.

Strome extends streak to 10
First-round pick Ryan Strome scored a goal and six assists in three games last week for the Niagara IceDogs (Ontario Hockey League),  extending his point streak to 10 games (four goals, 14 assists).  On March 2 against Belleville, Strome’s two assists helped Niagara overcome a two-goal deficit to win 5-4 in overtime. His four points (one goal, three assists) the next night powered the IceDogs to a 9-4 win over Windsor. In the same game, fellow Islanders prospect Jesse Graham posted a goal, an assist and a plus-5 rating.

Lee, Russo and Irish sweep Bowling Green
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Central Collegiate Athletic Association) swept their two-game set with Bowling Green over the weekend with help from Islanders prospects Anders Lee (one goal, two assists) and Robbie Russo (two assists). Lee’s two helpers on March 1 helped the Irish to a 4-3 victory, while his goal on March 2 led to a 4-1 win on Senior Night. Lee is tied for second in the conference with 34 points (18 goals, 16 assists) in 36 games this season.
