Season series (1-1-1)
The Islanders only win of the season series thus far came in a shootout at Madison Square Garden on February 14. Frans Nielsen and John Tavares each scored for the Isles in the breakaway competition. In the last matchup on Mar. 7, Michael Grabner scored for the Isles in regulation but Marian Gaborik won it for the Blueshirts in overtime, 2-1 at Nassau Coliseum.

Rangers player to watch
Derick Brassard - Center

The Rangers acquired the 2006 sixth overall pick along with Derek Dorsett, John Moore and a 2014 sixth-round pick for Marian Gaborik, Steven Delisle, and Jake Partlett at last week’s trade deadline. In his first game as a Ranger, the Hull, Quebec native notched a career-high four points (one goal, three assists) against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also notched an assist in the Rangers’ 3-2 shootout win over Toronto on Wednesday.

•The Islanders are coming off a 2-1 win at the Boston Bruins Thursday night. With the victory, the Isles are now 8-1-1 in their last 10 games.
Josh Bailey led the way for the Islanders in the win over Boston with his fifth career two-goal game. Bailey has seven points (four goals, three assists) in his last six games.
Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has played remarkably well in his last nine games, going 7-1-1 and allowing 13 goals since March 24 vs. Florida.
