Playing his second season in the top Finnish League, Aleksander Barkov finished second on his team in scoring with 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) despite being its youngest player. He also tallied seven points (three goals, four assists) in six games representing Finland at the World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia. Barkov is the Finnish-born son of Russian parents.

Valeri Nichuskin was the youngest member of Chelyabinsk this past season and stepped up his game in the playoffs with nine points (six goals, three assists) in 25 games as his squad fell in the Kontinental Hockey League Final. In 18 regular season games, Nichuskin notched six points (four goals, two assists) and won Rookie of the Month three times.
