Sabres player to watch
Cody Hodgson - Center

The Sabres haven't had many bright spots this season, but Cody Hodgson's five points in seven games certainly qualify. The 10th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft put together a four-game point streak (one goal, four assists) and is skating more than 20 minutes a night. The 23-year-old has 82 points (36 goals, 46 assists) in 146 career games.

Islanders Storylines
• John Tavares has points in four straight games (three goals, three assists).
• Michael Grabner registered his fifth helper of the season on Oct. 11 at Chicago, matching his assist output from the 2012-13 season.
• Matt Carkner made his season debut Oct. 12 at Nashville, recording a plus-1 rating in 11:42 of ice time.
