Bridgeport Sound Tigers:  27-31-2-5, 4th in Northeast Division, 12th in Eastern Conference

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers faced the St. John’s IceCaps and Portland Pirates this past weekend. On Saturday the Sound Tigers fell 2-1 in a shootout to St. John’s.  Adam Brace scored the lone goal for Bridgeport, on the power play early in the second period. The IceCaps came back in the middle of the second to tie the game and eventually take the two points. Goaltender Kevin Poulin made 20 saves between regulation and overtime. The following afternoon the Sound Tigers lost 4-2 to the Pirates. The recently signed University of Nebraska-Omaha alumnus, Ryan Walters, scored his first professional goal while Jake Newton scored his second of the year on the power play.

Stockton Thunder: 29-26-0-6, 2nd in Pacific Division, 6th in Western Conference

The Stockton Thunder took on the Alaska Aces this weekend in back-to-back games. Dressed in their alternate Rough & Ready Islanders jerseys, Stockton defeated the Aces 5-4 in overtime on Saturday. The Thunder dominated the first period picking up a trio of goals. Corey Trivino totaled three points in the period (2G, 1A) scoring the first and third goal of the period. Former Boston University teammate of Trivino, Ben Rosen picked up the second. Early in the second, Joey Martin notched the Thunder’s fourth goal. The Aces scored three unanswered goals in the third period to force overtime. In the extra frame defenseman Lee Baldwin collected his own rebound and scored picking up the win for the Thunder. On Sunday the Aces came back hungry beating the Thunder 7-2. Sean Escobedo and Alan Quined tallied the two Thunder goals. Quine’s goal was the first ECHL goal of his career.
