Jake Virtanen had a stellar sophomore season for the Calgary Hitmen, tallying 71 points (45G, 26A) in 71 games. The New Westminster, B.C. native nearly tripled his goal output from the previous season and doubled his point total. Virtanen was highly touted after being the first-overall pick in the 2011 Western Hockey League Draft. He also won gold on the international stage with Team Canada at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Tournament.

Virtanen is a speedy, heads up, straight-forward power winger. He loves to shoot the puck and does so very well. Plays in traffic and doesn't seem afraid of anything. He will get his goals in just about any sort of fashion you can imagine and is much better known for his goal scoring than his playmaking.

Kasperi Kapanen is the highest-rated Finnish player in the draft after having tallied 14 points (7G, 7A) with KalPa in the SM-Liiga last season. Kapenen’s father is Sami Kapanen, who played 12 NHL seasons. This season, the two also became just the second father-son duo to play together in SM-Liiga.

Kapanen is an elite skater and has a knack for the net. He loves to shoot the puck, has a great release and will compliment a top-six scoring role on the wing. Kapanen is a team player and has a huge heart. He has a very good set of hands, but you won't usually come out of your seat watching him dangle. You will come out of your seat watching him score.

Nick Ritchie surpassed the point-per-game mark for the first time in his three-year OHL career, scoring 74 points (39G, 35A) in 61 games this past season. The Orangeville, ON, native doubled his previous highs in all offensive categories and already has NHL size at 6’2” 226 lbs. Ritchie is a power forward and led the Peterborough Petes in regular season and playoff scoring.

The team that drafts this guy is getting two for the price of one. Not only is Ritchie legit tough and a monster of a man already, but he can play the game like a skilled player too. He'll crash, bang, intimidate and fight at any time in any game, yet he can flip a switch and either make a terrific sauce pass set up or rip home a bullet from the slot. The one player in this draft that sets himself apart from all the rest in that he has something a little different. Size and nasty to go along with his skill and sense.
