Selected by the Islanders in the first round (12th overall) of the 2009 National Hockey League Draft. Signed an Entry-Level Contract on May 1, 2010.

LAST SEASON:
Recorded two assists in three games during his second professional season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (American Hockey League) before a suffering a shoulder injury at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Oct. 20 that required season-ending surgery...Posted assists in back-to-back games on Oct. 13 and 20, including a helper on the game-winning goal vs. Providence on Oct. 13.

CAREER:
2011-12: Scored 16 points (2g/14a) in 56 games during his rookie season with Bridgeport (AHL)...Added two assists in three Calder Cup playoff games, tying for second on the team in points...Made his professional debut on Oct. 8 vs. Portland...Recorded his first pro- fessional assist on Oct. 9 at Albany...Notched his first two-point game (2a) on Oct. 21 at Saint John’s...Recorded his first professional goal on Nov. 12 at Springfield...Recalled from Bridgeport on emergency loan on Dec. 15, marking his first NHL call-up...Made his NHL debut on Dec. 15 vs. Dallas and was returned to Bridgeport on Dec. 16...Named to the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic Eastern Conference Team, but was unable to participate due to injury...Earned two assists in Bridgeport’s 4-3 overtime loss at Connecticut in Game 3 of their first round Calder Cup playoff series.

2009-10:

Led Oshawa defensemen and finished second in the OHL among rookie defensemen with 63 points (8g/55a) in 68 games... Selected to the 2009 OHL All-Star Classic and the Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game...Named Oshawa’s Rookie of the Year and Top Defenseman. 

2007-08:
Named the Central Junior Hockey League Player of the Year after scoring 42 points (3g/39a) in 58 games with the Kemptville 73s...Before playing in the CJHL, played his minor hockey with West Carleton Minor Hockey and the Ottawa Valley Titans...Selected by Oshawa in the third round (50th overall) of the 2007 OHL Draft.

INTERNATIONAL:
Represented Canada at two World Junior Championships (2011 - Buffalo; 2010 - Saskatoon & Regina), winning a silver medal in each tournament. Served as an assistant captain in 2011, notching five assists and a plus-2 rating in six games...Also skated with Team Canada at the 2009 Under-18 World Junior Championships (Fargo, ND & Moorhead, MN), recording six assists and a plus-6 rating in six games.
