Pregame

Game will start at 7:23, not the usual 7:08 start time, because of a mechanical issue with the Predators' team plane earlier today.

1st Period
1:25: Didn't take long for the Islanders to get on the board. Loose puck drifted toward center point, and Travis Hamonic stepped into it. John Tavares deflected it high over Pekka Rinne's shoulder and it's 1-0.

7:49: Nashville evens it up at 1-1 on a scramble. Evgeni Nabokov made a save but it looked like a second attempt may have made the difference as the puck trickled in.

They've given the goal to Craig Smith, with assists from Gabriel Bourque and David Legwand.

13:38: Tavares cleans up a rebound to make it 2-1. Islanders had some good pressure, and Rinne had already made a quality save or two. Hamonic blasted a one-timer from the right side and the rebound kicked out to the right side. Tavares had an easy putaway while Rinne was down. Matt Moulson with the other assist.

15:01: Victor Bartley goes away for interference, and the Islanders will get their first power play of the night.

16:00: Early returns on the power play look good. Lubomir Visnovsky was the beneficiary of a nice pass across the slot from Moulson, and it's 3-1. Colin McDonald had the second helper on that beauty.

19:16: Brett Gallant does what he does, and drops the gloves with Paul Gaustad. Gallant landed the best shots in that scrap.

End 1st: NYI 3 NSH 1. Shots: NYI 15 NSH 10.

2nd Period
1:44: Eric Nystrom will sit for two munutes. Holding the stick is the call. Islanders are 1-for-1 on the job tonight.

4:45: Colin McDonald makes it 4-1 Isles. Puck came from Brock Nelson as he circled to the top of the zone, and hit McDonald at the bottom of the right circle. Predators goaltender didn't have much of a chance. Frans Nielsen gets the secondary.

10:03: Hamonic goes for interference, and the Predators will get their first PP of the night. Shots: NYI 19 NSH 15.

12:44: Nelson lines up a shot from the right point and it hits a body or two in front before finding the twine. He probably couldn't even see the the goal through the traffic. 5-1 Islanders. Matt Donovan will get credit for the goal. Moulson with the second assist.

End 2nd: NYI 5 NSH 1. Shots: NYI 24 NSH 17.

3rd Period
0:00: Carter Hutton takes Rinne's place between the pipes. Rinne stopped 19-of-24 shots tonight after not allowing a goal in two pervious preseason games.

6:49: Rich Clune will sit for hooking. Isles 1-for-3 on the man advantage so far.

9:15: Josh Bailey scores at even strength on a deflection. The genesis of yet another goal was Hamonic shooting from the top of the zone. 6-1 home team.

11:18: Nashville gets one back, and it's 6-2. Simon Moser cleans up a rebound in front of Nabokov. Ryan Ellis and Nick Spaling are credited with the assists.

17:09: Preds cut the Isles lead to three. Feed from up high in the zone landed on the stick of Smith, who had space enough to spin and fire from down low over Nabokov's shoulder.

18:47: Preds make it 6-4 on a laser beam from the left point.
