BLAKE TO MISS AT LEAST ONE GAME
Islanders forward Jason Blake has been diagnosed with a moderate concussion. He is expected to miss at least one game. The Islanders next play on Saturday when they host the Colorado Avalanche at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7:00 pm. Blake, who suffered the injury in the third period of Tuesday night's game against Minnesota, briefly visited with his teammates and coaches after practice today.
"He looked good," said Islanders coach Steve Stirling. "He was in good spirits. It was nice to see, but for now we'll take it day-by-day and do what's best for Jason."
In other Islander developments:
* Forward Kevin Colley suffered a sprained knee in the third period of last night's game and will be out indefinitely.
* Forward Wyatt Smith has been returned to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League.
* After today's practice at the Coliseum, the Islanders made their annual holidays visits to Long Island hospitals. All of the players participated in spreading cheer to children's wards at Schneider's Childrens, Winthrop and Stony Brook hospitals.
