USA! USA! USA!
The Islanders will have three players on the United States Ice Hockey Team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
Goaltender Rick DiPietro and forwards Jason Blake and Mark Parrish have made the final roster, which was introduced on OLN this evening.
"Unbelievable," said Blake, who got the word a few hours earlier. "I don't know what to say. Like winning a Stanley Cup with the Islanders, this is one of my dreams. To go with Rick
and Parry makes it that more special."
"I feel a great deal of pride representing the Islanders at the Olympics," said Parrish, moments before taking warmup at the Air Canada Centre. "This is something I dreamed of since I was a kid."
"We're extremely proud of Rick, Jason and Mark," said Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. "To have three of our guys on the U.S. Olympic team is a thrill for the franchise and our fans."
