Goal and assist in 5-1 win over Finland

Islanders 2004 second round pick Blake Comeau starred for Team Canada on Monday at the World Junior Championships, scoring a goal and adding an assist in his team's 5-1 win over Finland.

Before 16,083 fans at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum, the home team dominated throughout. Scouts at the game reported that Comeau was one of Canada's best players, not just on the scoresheet.

Comeau's goal gave Canada a 2-0 lead at 15:02 of the first period. The Islanders prospect jumped on a losse puck just inside the Finnish blueline and raced in alone on goalie Tuukka Rask. Comeau's shot flipped up and over the goalie.

Islanders 2005 first round pick Ryan O'Marra assisted on Comeau's goal.

"It was a great chip by [Ryan] O'Marra and I looked up and I had a breakaway," Comeau told reporters after the game. "[Rask] kind of cuffed me when he put up the pad stack but lucky enough it hit the post and went in."

Dustin Boyd had two goals for Canada. Andrew Cogliano had two assists, while David Bolland and Kyle Chipchura also scored for the host team.  Team Canada is coached by former Islanders captain Brent Sutter.

"We had to play to our identity," said Sutter. "In our past history with these two countries, when we play each other it's a pretty North American-styled game. The Finns play hard. We knew that we would have to match that and go beyond that."
