THANK YOU, NIKE BAUER HOCKEY!
Donates more than 300 full sets of equipment to Chinese hockey programs

Thanks to an extraordinary donation from Nike Bauer Hockey, the two youth hockey teams the Islanders have brought from China to North America for the next ten days will be outfitted in the some of the world's best hockey equipment.

In its ongoing effort to grow the global game of hockey and support grassroots initiatives, Nike Bauer Hockey provided the teams from the Chinese cities of Harbin and QiQihar head-to-toe equipment for their tour of North America. Included in the donation was some of the company's top line equipment, including Nike Flexlite skates, Bauer Vapor gloves, Bauer Supreme goal equipment and Nike Pro Hockey Performance Base Layer under-apparel.

"We cannot thank Nike Bauer Hockey enough for their amazing contribution," said Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. "The moment I reached out to them, their immediate reaction was, 'Whatever you need.' They have gone above and beyond with their donation."

Nike Bauer Hockey not only donated complete sets of equipment for each of the two teams arriving in Ottawa, the leading provider of ice hockey equipment also donated more than 300 sets of equipment to the youth programs in Harbin and QiQihar in an effort to grow the game of hockey in China.

"We have always been focused on growing the game of hockey throughout the world and this was an excellent opportunity to help make an immediate impact on the global game," said Chris Zimmerman, President & CEO, Nike Bauer Hockey. "We are extremely excited to have worked closely with the New York Islanders organization to make this event a reality and we are pleased to help make the teams' visit to North America a memorable one."

Young hockey players from the Chinese cities of Harbin and Qiqihar arrived in North America on Dec. 27 to participate in the prestigious Bell Capital Cup Youth Hockey Tournament in Ottawa, Ontario. The teams of 9-11 year olds are the Red Stars from Harbin, where the Islanders have had a branch office since 2004, and the Snow Leopards from Qiqihar, one of the oldest cities in Northeast China.  Mike Milbury visited both cities during the 2004-05 NHL lockout. After the tournament in Ottawa, the Chinese youth hockey players will come to Long Island, where they will be honored at the Islanders-Panthers game on Jan. 4 and visit the metropolitan area, including a trip to New York City on Jan. 5.
