Diagnosed with mild knee sprain
Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro has been diagnosed with a mild knee sprain and his status is day-to-day. DiPietro suffered the injury in the first period of the Islanders' 4-3 loss in Ottawa on Friday night.
Defenseman Alexei Zhitnik, who suffered a bruised tailbone during the game, will likely return to the lineup when the Islanders host Tampa Bay on Monday night at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
