Bport gets 3 wins in 3 straight days

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders' AHL affiliate, defeated the East Division-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 3-1 at home on Sunday.

The win capped off an impressive 3-for-3 weekend. The Sound Tigers also won games on Friday (7-4 over Lowell) and Saturday (5-2 in Hershey)

On Sunday, the Sound Tigers were first to light the lamp at 13:51 of the first period when Jeff Hamilton rifled his 15th tally of the year past Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netminder Dany Sabourin who couldn't hold on to the puck giving the Sound Tigers the 1-0 lead. Rob Collins and Steve Regier were credited with the assists.

With only :20.8 seconds remaining in the opening frame, the Penguins tied the game at 1-1 when Jonathan Filewich knocked in a loose puck for his 14th of the year with Maxime Talbot picking up the assist.

David Masse broke the tie just as a Sound Tigers power play was ending 1:22 into the third frame when he chipped in his ninth goal of the year with help from Masi Marjamaki and Harlan Pratt for a 2-1 lead.

"It wasn't a picturesque goal, but when you go to the net, you will be rewarded and he (David) was, with a nice goal," Sound Tiger head coach Dave Baseggio said.

The Sound Tigers iced the game when Vince Macri blasted his first tally of the season on a one-timer that banked in off the post from Sean Bergenheim with Jeremy Colliton picking up the other assist.

Wade Dubielewicz stopped 32 of 33 shots to earn the win for the Sound Tigers who were 2 for 2 on the penalty kill while Sabourin took the loss despite making 28 saves for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton who was 5 for 5 on the penalty kill and held a 33-31 shots on goal advantage. The first star was Dubielewicz, the second was Hamilton, and the third was Macri.

Prior to the game, the Sound Tigers announced the return of defenseman Joel Bouchard and forwards Wyatt Smith and Robert Nilsson from the Islanders, but only Nilsson was able to make the trip through the blizzard in time for the game.

The Sound Tigers also announced that unused tickets for Sunday's game can be redeemed for any of their remaining 12 home games.  Additional details on the unused ticket redemption will be released in the next few days.

The Sound Tigers will host the Hershey Bears this Wednesday, February 15th, at 7:05 p.m.  All Sound Tigers games are web-cast live at www.soundtigers.com.  Fans can also watch all AHL games live on the B2 Networks.
