SOUND TIGERS BEAT NORFOLK 6-3
Dubie makes 42 saves, 2 goals for Regier

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders' AHL affiliate, defeated the Norfolk Admirals 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at home.  The Sound Tigers moved two points ahead of Norfolk and into sole possession of third place in the East Division with the win.

Masi Marjamaki, off assists from David Masse and Joel Bouchard, put the Sound Tigers up 1-0 with his sixth goal of the year at 9:07 into the opening frame.

The Admirals struck back 4:27 later to tie the score at 1-1 when Matt Keith notched his 14th of the season on the power play with Dustin Byfuglien and Pavel Vorobiev picking up the assists.

The Sound Tigers regained a 2-1 lead when Wyatt Smith poked home his 13th goal of the year on a shot that squirted through Norfolk goalie Corey Crawford's legs with Cole Jarrett and Allan Rourke assisting on the play at 4:39 of the second period.

The Admirals once again evened the score at 2-2 when Nathan Barrett knocked in a James Wisniewski rebound 5:10 later for his 20th tally of the season. Shawn Thornton also picked up an assist.

Norfolk took the lead at 3-2 1:58 later and 16 seconds into a power play when Mark Cullen notched his 25th goal from Barrett and Martin St. Pierre. Not to be outdone, the Sound Tigers evened the score at 3-3 just 59 seconds later and 24 seconds into their own power play when Jeremy Colliton scored his 14th of the year from Robert Nilsson and Bruno Gervais.

The Sound Tigers then took a 4-3 lead into the third after Chris Thompson scored his first career AHL goal with 2:21 left in the middle frame off assists from Masse and Smith, which eventually became the game-winner.

"It's a really good feeling to get my first goal," Thompson said. "I've had some good chances and it was nice to finish this one off on a good shot. I'll have a smile on my face for the next two weeks."

Just as a power play expired, Steve Regier poked in his 11th tally of the season 1:38 into the final period with Rourke and Smith assisting on the play to make it 5-3.

The Sound Tigers then iced the game at 9:08 of the third when Jarrett blasted a one-timer from Bouchard, but Regier tipped in his second of the game and 12th of the season.

Wade Dubielewicz stopped 42 of 45 shots for the Sound Tigers who were 3 for 8 on the power play while Crawford made 20 saves for Norfolk who was 2 for 7 on the power play and held the 45-26 shots on goal advantage. Thompson was the first star scoring his first career AHL goal, Regier was the second notching two goals and Smith was the third finishing with a goal and two assists.
