O\'MARRA IMPRESSIVE IN DEBUT
Scored Two Goals for the Tigers

Ryan O'Marra wasted little time to impress in his professional hockey debut on Friday night as the 18-year old netted two goals in his first game as a Bridgeport Sound Tiger. Both goals came on the power play. However, the Tigers lost the game to the Philadelphia Phantoms 4-2 at the Wachovia Spectrum.

"It was an unbelievable feeling, but I wish we would have gotten the win," said O'Marra, who was taken 15th overall in last year's draft. "But my goals were a credit to who I played with tonight. They made feel welcome on the ice and the bounces went my way."

Added Sound Tigers head coach Dave Baseggio: "Ryan played a great all-around game for us tonight. He was sharp and played extremely hard. You can tell why he was a first round draft pick."

O'Marra played center on five-on-five with Justin Papineau on one side with a rotating winger on the other. On the power play, he played wing with Steve Regier and a rotating center. O'Marra hit the post in the third period going for the hat trick.

O'Marra signed a three-year contract with the Islanders on Thursday and joined the Sound Tigers immediately for their road trip down to Philadelphia. He's had a productive season finishing as the second-leading scorer for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. In 61 games, O'Marra was 27-50-77 with 134 penalty minutes. At the World Junior Championships in December, O'Marra had two assists and 18 penalty minutes in six games for Team Canada.

The Sound Tigers return home on Saturday as they host the Providence Bruins. Faceoff is at 7:05 pm at the Arena at Harbor Yards. They're also in action on Sunday afternoon hosting the Binghamton Senators at 4:05 pm.
