Masi Marjamaki's overtime goal on Wednesday night in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has put the Bridgeport Sound Tigers back on track. After the teams split the first four games, the best-of-seven East Division semifinal all of sudden became a best-of-three heading into last night. With Bridgeport's win, it's now a "win-and-advance" situation for the Sound Tigers, who are up three games to two in the series. One more win and they advance to the East Division finals against the Hershey Bears.
The news gets better for the Sound Tigers. Game Six will take place tomorrow night at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard with the puck dropping at 7:35. More good news is that the Sound Tigers had a 21-13-4 regular season record at home. But the bad news is that the road team has won each of the first five games of the series. That's an obvious trend the Sound Tigers want to break.
According to Michael Fornabaio of the Connecticut Post, coming into this postseason, a total of 85 best-of-seven series have been tied 2-2 according to the AHL. The winner of Game Five has gone on to win 81.2 percent of those series.
For those who missed it, Islanders 2005 first round draft pick Ryan O'Marra returned to the Sound Tigers' lineup last night and made his AHL post-season debut. He missed the first four games of the series with an eye infection. He centered a line with Blake Comeau and Chris Thompson and looked steady and solid.
Great seats are still available for Game Six on Friday night and Sound Tigers playoff tickets cost as little as $11. Tickets can be purchased at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard box office by calling 203-368-1000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Sound Tigers Playoff Gift Packs -- which include four tickets, an autographed puck and four SportsCenter of CT activity passes -- are also on sale for as little as $69.
Long Island fans can purchase a special $16 round-trip fare on the Port Jefferson Ferry during the playoffs. Advance purchase is required through New England Tours by calling 631-473-5138 between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. The last ferry will also wait until 15 minutes after the end of the game or 10:30 pm, whichever comes first, to depart following weekend playoff games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
