THE HIGHS & LOWS OF THE DRAFT

There are usually can't-miss, hot-shot prospects in every NHL Draft and most of the time they pan out to be all-stars. But there's also the players that slip past the scouts' eyes, fall into the late rounds and bloom into perennial all-stars. Here's a list of some of the best NHLers to have slipped past the first round of the draft way into the back of the class and only to make a pretty neat career for themselves.

PLAYER PICK YEAR DRAFTED BY
Dan McGillis 238th 1992 Detroit
Pavol Demitra 227th 1993 Ottawa
Vladimir Konstantinov * 221st 1989 Detroit

Johan Hedberg 218th 1994 Philadelphia
Dave Taylor * 210th 1975 Los Angeles

Brett Hull 117th 1984 Calgary
Pavel Bure 113th 1989 Vancouver

Then there are the players that simply weren't drafted at all, but proved every team wrong.

And let's not forget about the goaltenders. Belfour and CuJo might not have been drafted at all, but there are some goalies pegged at the top. Here are the highest drafted goalies in the history of the pre-modern and modern NHL Entry Draft.
