Islanders Iceworks is the place to be next week to check out the future of the New York Islanders. The organization is hosting a Development Camp from Monday, July 10 through Saturday, July 15 featuring virtually all of their most notable prospects.
Participants include recent Islanders first round picks Kyle Okposo (2006), Ryan O'Marra (2005), Petteri Nokelainen (2004) and Robert Nilsson (2003) plus young Islanders Chris Campoli, Jeff Tambellini, Jeremy Colliton and Bruno Gervais.
The Islanders' prospects, divided into two groups, will participate in a combination of on-ice skating and off-ice conditioning sessions each morning from approximately 9:00 to 11:30.
Today, newyorkislanders.com focuses on the defensemen and goaltenders participating in the Development Camp.

Drafted by the Islanders in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft
The physical Swedish defenseman continued his development last season with Arboga of the tier-two Swedish League. He compiled three points and 30 penalty minutes in 39 games.

Campoli is the "veteran" of this year's mini-camp having played in 80 games for the Islanders last year. A workhorse on defense, Campoli also contributed offensively, topping all Islanders defenseman with 34 points, including nine goals and 25 assists. Campoli scored a goal in his first NHL game on October 5, 2006 at Buffalo.

Gervais is another member of the Islanders' sophomore squad having played in 27 games for the Islanders in '05-06 notching seven points. Along with Campoli, Gervais was put in key spots late in the year and performed well on the blueline during the Islanders' late-season playoff push.

Drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round (102nd overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft
The Islanders signed the Swedish defensive defenseman this summer. The oldest player at this year's development camp played his best hockey last season while playing for first place HV-71 of the Swedish Elite League, compiling two points and 34 penalty minutes while accumulating +7 rating in 37 games.

Drafted by the Islanders in the second round (46th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft
The Edmonton, Alberta native has been progressing well in the WHL the past three seasons, recently focusing more on his defensive play. Splitting time between Calgary and Brandon of the WHL in 2005-2006, Kohn tallied 25 assists, 29 points and 50 penalty minutes in 69 games. Kohn played in Bridgeport for the final two regular season games in '05-06 on an amateur tryout.

MacDonald was an integral part of Ted Nolan's Moncton Wildcats run to the Memorial Cup final last season. In his first season in the QMJHL, MacDonald had six goals, 40 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 68 games.

The Clarkson University freshman and teammate of Islanders prospect Shea Guthrie saved his best for last collecting three assists in four playoff games in 2005-2006. Mason finished in the team lead with a + 10 rating.

Drafted by the Islanders in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft
O'Neill, a third-year blueliner out of Notre Dame, led the team's defense in scoring for the second straight season with six goals, 19 assists and 25 points. Each year his point total has increased.

Drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft
Sims played alongside Kyle Okposo last season with Des Moines of the USHL, scoring seven of his ten goals on the power play and totaling 22 points and 80 penalty minutes in 59 games. His strong play in his freshman season earned him USHL All-Rookie honors along with Okposo.

Drafted by the Islanders in the seventh round (196th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft
Tuzzolino's second year in the OHL saw his offensive production significantly increase. His 2004-2005 totals were 2-20-22 in 67 games compared to 10-28-38 in 63 games during the 2005-2006 season. The 6-5 defenseman played in his first OHL playoffs contributing three assists and was a +2 rating in ten games.

Chiasson made the jump to the QMJHL last season playing for Rimouski. He played in 49 games, posting a .870 save percentage. He is unsigned and undrafted and is attending the Islanders mini-camp via an invite.

Davenport played in his second season for Cape Breton of the QMJHL last year. He posted a career high in wins, finishing 13-11-0. Davenport is also attending the Islanders mini-camp through an invite.
