Daktronics ProStar Video Screen Enhances Game Experience

The New York Islanders have purchased a new large screen video display board for the main overhead scoreboard at the Nassau Coliseum from Daktronics Inc. The video display board consists of four new high resolution ProStar VideoPlus displays. The newly enhanced scoreboard will make its debut at the Islanders pre-season game against the New York Rangers on Sept. 29 at 7:30 pm.

The four new Daktronics video screens will replace the existing video displays in the scoreboard. The new ProStar displays will use Daktronics high resolution 10 millimeter LED (light emitting diode) technology for highly increased image clarity and wide viewing angles. Each of the four video displays will measure approximately 9 feet high by 12 feet long, and will be retrofit into the existing scoreboard structure.

"We've worked closely with Daktronics over the last few years to improve the game day experience for our devoted Islander fans," said Tim Beach, Vice President of Game Operations and Events for the Islanders. "We are very pleased with the performance of the equipment and the support we've received from Daktronics over the years. Enhancing the main scoreboard with the new ProStar ten millimeter high resolution video screens is the latest phase in upgrading our scoring and display system to a totally integrated Daktronics system."

Daktronics' first full-color LED displays for Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum were installed in 2001. ProAd technology was added below the existing video screens on the main scoreboard along with nearly 770 linear feet on the interior facade. In 2002, the Islanders were the first NHL club to incorporate digital LED technology into the dasher boards at ice level.

The Islanders are one of 19 NHL teams that currently use Daktronics equipment and one of six to use Daktronics super system installation -- which incorporates video, scoring and information display functions on multiple displays and scoreboards.

ProStar video display technology uses the latest in full-color red, green and blue LED technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide angle visibility. ProStar LED video display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come. ProStar and ProAd display technology are the leading large screen LED solutions for sports and entertainment venues worldwide.
