Colliton and Rourke are alternates

Mark Wotton, who brought 16 years of professional hockey experience to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season, was named captain of Sound Tigers at the start of the regular season. Jeremy Colliton and Allan Rourke were named alternate captains for the Sound Tigers who opened the season with a 5-3 win at Binghamton on Sunday.

Wotton won the American Hockey League's Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears last winter. The 5-foot-10, 196-pound defenseman, who will turn 33 on Oct. 16, is a Foxwarren, Manitoba native. He was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the 10th round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Wotton has played in 43 NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars and has played in Russia, in the Western Hockey League, the International Hockey League, and AHL and NHL.

"Mark Wotton brings character and leadership to the locker room and experience to the ice," Sound Tigers President Howard Saffan said. "He will serve as a great role model for our younger players."

Colliton, a 21-year-old centerman, and Rourke, a 26-year-old defenseman, are both returnees to the Sound Tigers' lineup. Colliton, 6-2, 195, was selected by the Sound Tigers' parent club, the New York Islanders, in the second round of the 2003 draft. Rourke, 6-2, 213, was selected by Toronto in the sixth round of the 1998 draft.
