GAME PREVIEW
ISLANDERS (6-6-2) VS. PHILADELPHIA (3-10-1)

(7:00 p.m. ET, TV: FSN NY | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) After playing nine of their previous ten games at home, the Islanders take to the road and visit their division rival Philadelphia Flyers tonight at the Wachovia Center.

Ted Nolan has made a shake-up in the line combinations. In yesterday's practice Chris Simon was moved up to the top line with Alexei Yashin and Jason Blake, but Nolan mentioned that Arron Asham will also see some time on that line as well. A new line was created with Mike Sillinger centering Andy Hilbert and Miroslav Satan. Viktor Kozlov and Mike York will be alongside Trent Hunter, while Richard Park will see time with Arron Asham and Shawn Bates.

The Flyers are off to their worst start in franchise history, which caused their long-time GM Bob Clarke and head coach Ken Hitchcock to both be fired just a few games into the season.

Philadelphia still has a number of dangerous forwards in the likes of Peter Forsberg and Simon Gagne, who terrorized NHL teams last year playing on the same line with Mike Knuble. But just like with the Islanders, head coach John Stevens shook-up the lines and split Forsberg and Gagne for their last game against Toronto, a 4-1 Flyers loss. Philadelphia has now lost three games in a row and four out of their last five.

Gagne, Forsberg and Knuble still top the Flyers in points, but have been significantly less productive than last season. Joni Pitkanen leads the defense in points with eight all assists. In goal, Antero Niittymaki has seen a majority of the playing time posting a record of 2-7-1.

Petr Nedved was recently recalled from the Flyers' AHL affiliate Philadelphia Phantoms to replace the injured Jeff Carter.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130 while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY.
