GAME PREVIEW
Islanders (8-6-3) at Florida (7-9-4)

(7:30 p.m. ET, TV: FSN NY 2 | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) Game Three of the Islanders' five-game road trip is tonight in Miami against the Florida Panthers at the Bank Atlantic Center.

Yesterday, the Islanders picked up their 19th point of the season in a seven-round shootout loss to Tampa Bay. The Islanders fell behind 2-0 just over five minutes into the first period, but clawed their way back to even the score in the second period. Radek Martinek got things started on a slap shot in the first period and Mike York tied the score on another slapper late in the second period.

In the shootout session, Rick DiPietro stopped the first six shooters before Dmitry Afanasenkov barely beat him through the five-hole in the seventh round. The Islanders failed to score in the shootout.

The last time Florida squared off with the Islanders, it took ten rounds to decide the outcome. Miroslav Satan and Olli Jokinen traded goals in the first three rounds of the shootout before DiPietro and Ed Belfour took over. Andy Hilbert converted on a backhand shot in the tenth round and DiPietro stopped Joel Kwiatkowski to earn the 4-3 win.

Since the Islanders beat the Panthers on October 28 in the tenth round of the shootout, Florida has gone 2-3-2, winning just one of their previous five games. That win came Thursday against Montreal, when Olli Jokinen recorded a hat trick to lead Florida to a 5-1 win. Belfour, who has been splitting time in goal with Alex Auld, made 27 saves to earn the victory.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY 2 Network.
