SOUND TIGERS BEAT BEARS IN OT
Bridgeport 4, Hershey 3

Blake Comeau's breakaway goal in overtime lifted the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to a thrilling 4-3 win over the Hershey Bears on Saturday night.

Robert Nilsson scored two goals for the second consecutive night and set up Comeau's game-winner, his fifth goal of the year. The Sound Tigers ended a game in the overtime session after going to shootouts in each of their first five OT situations.

The Sound Tigers improved to 8-5-0-3 and pulled to within four points of third place Hershey (10-1-1-2) in the East Division. Bridgeport is 2-0 against the defending Calder Cup champion Bears, including a 3-2 shootout win in Chocolate Town in October.

The Sound Tigers handed the Bears another rare defeat in their own building, but not before the Bears overcame a two-goal deficit to salvage a point for the second time against Bridgeport this year. The Sound Tigers, nonetheless, have earned seven of a possible eight points in their last four games and improved to an impressive 7-3-0-1 on the road.

Jason Pitton set up Nilsson's second goal and seventh of the year, at 4:40 of the third period to give the Sound Tigers a 3-1 lead before the Bears clawed back. Joey Tenute scored on the power play to get the Bears to within 3-2 at the 11:42 mark. Quintin Laing scored at 17:53 to force overtime.

The Sound Tigers built their lead, after Hershey struck first, with a couple of power play tallies. Less than three minutes after Eric Fehr gave the Bears a 1-0 lead on a 5-on-3 power play at 16:04 of the first period, the Sound Tigers capitalized on a two-man advantage of their own. Nilsson jammed home a rebound of Joel Bouchard's blast from the blue line to even the score 1-1 at 18:42.

In the second period, The Sound Tigers took the lead on yet another 5-on-3 goal when Steve Regier scored his fifth of the season for a 2-1 edge. Bouchard earned another assist and Jeff Tambellini, who has points in five straight games, also had an assist.

The Sound Tigers were out-shot 44-28, but improved to 5-2-0-2 when out-shot as goaltender Billy Thompson won the battle with his counterpart, Frederic Cassivi. Thompson won his second game in as many nights after a 5-1 win at Worcester on Friday. The Sound Tigers went 2-for-6 on the power play and have six man advantage goals in their last four games. Hershey was 2-for-9 on the power play but was shut down on an early overtime chance.

The Sound Tigers return to the ice Friday, Nov. 24 to host Binghamton at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena at Harbor Yard. For schedule and ticket information, including group discount opportunities, visit www.soundtigers.com or call 203-334-4625.
