GAME PREVIEW
Islanders (11-7-3) vs. Washington (8-8-6)

(7:00 p.m. ET, TV: FSN NY | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) It's Bob Bourne Night at the Coliseum as the Islanders go for three in a row against Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

Yesterday, the Islanders put in their second strong effort in a row, topping the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1. Rick DiPietro stopped 36 of 37 shots while Miroslav Satan tallied the game-winner and added an assist.

With the win, and the loss by New Jersey yesterday, all three New York Metropolitan teams are tied for first in the Atlantic division with 25 points. The Islanders, at 11-7-3, are four games above .500 for the first time this season.

The Capitals come to town with a record of 8-8-6, but have had trouble winning recently, losing their last five games. Last night they fell to Toronto, 7-1, on home ice.

Washington can't be taken lightly with Ovechkin, the reigning Rookie of the Year, on the team. Ovechkin isn't scoring at the same pace as last season, but he's still dangerous. His 14 goals and 24 points lead the team.

Olaf Kolzig has seen a majority of the playing time in net and is 6-5-3 on the season. Kolzig has had success against the Islanders in the past. He is 24-8-2 in his career against the Islanders, with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Tonight the Islanders will induct Bob Bourne into the Islanders Hall of Fame. He will join Denis Potvin, Mike Bossy, Billy Smith, Bobby Nystrom, Clark Gillies, Bryan Trottier, Al Arbour and Bill Torrey, who have been grandfathered into the Hall of Fame. Ceremonies for the event begin at 6:45 pm.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY.
