50 WORDS OR LESS: SHOOTOUT SPECIALISTS
Satan, Yash, Blake, Kozlov and Hunter get most nods

The fans have spoken and there is a long list of Islanders they would like to see in the shootout this year. Tops on the list are Miroslav Satan, Alexei Yashin, Jason Blake, Viktor Kozlov and Trent Hunter. Miro's hands, Yash's leadership, Blake's speed, Kozlov's reach and Hunter's roof shot were some of the attributes described by the posters. Below are just some of the responses we received for this edition of "50 Words or Less.

1. Miro Satan - Has the right moves, likes shooting first
2. Viktor Kozlov - Proved himself last year in NJ lets see him on the Island
3. Trent Hunter - Wicked wrist shot

Brad
Glen Cove, NY

My top three shooters are Satan, Kozlov and Hunter.  Satan and Kozlov are proven snipers during shootouts - they are two of the best in the league since shootouts started last year.  Hunter has excellent moves as well, and he was very successful in some key shootouts in '05-'06.

Ron

I would definitely use Satan, Blake and Yashin. Satan is like a demon with the puck, while Blake and Yashin have the patience and stick handling to bury it in the net.

Timothy Noto
Patchogue, NY

Jason Blake- Couldn't be hotter (or faster)
Viktor Kozlov- Ridiculous reach
Alexei Yashin- This Captain takes responsibility, he's the team leader

Tim Warren
Monroe, NY

I think Yashin, Kozlov and Satan would be the best shooters because they
have great skill.

Jim Barbour
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

I'd like to see Hunter, Kozlov and Blake in any given shootout. Blakey's speed, Kozlov's reach and Trent's unstoppable roof shot give the Ilses a chance to win every shootout.

Gary Epstein
Malverne, NY

If I were Nolan, the first 3 shooters would be: Satan (I dare you to name a better puck handler), Blake (speed kills!!), and Bates (great combination of both).

David Laffer
Medford, NY

Yashin, Blake, Satan.  Satan is one of the best at a shootout.  Blake has the speed and moves to make the goaltender act first.  As the leader Yashin has what it takes to set the tone.

Greg Weiss
Clifton, NJ

If I was Ted Nolan, I would choose the following shooters:

1) Alexei Yashin
2) Jason Blake
3) Viktor Kozlov

Ilya Aronov
Flushing, NY

1. Miro Satan because he's the best
2. Kozlov
3. Hunter

Ferenc Orosz
Hungary, Budapest

I think that the three greatest in a shootout would be:
1)Kozlov because he's on an amazing goal scoring streak... congrats on the four goal game!
2)Hilbert because he's completely focused on scoring.
3)Yashin because he rarely lets us down.

Stephanie
Dix Hills. NY

Jason Blake, Richard Park, Alexei Yashin, because Blake's got the moves, Yashin is a pure scorer, and Park is my favorite player.

Jason Drucker
Rockville Center, NY

Miro Satan is the most skilled player on the team and should be one of the first three every time.  I would also choose Alexei Yashin and Viktor Kozlov.  That's 3 goals right there.

Nick
Long Island

The three Islanders, from the current team, that I would want to see in the shootout are:
1) Miroslav Satan
2) Jason Blake
3) Bruno Gervais

Lauren
West Islip, NY

Not that Nolan needs any second guessing but my 3 choices would be Hunter, Simon and Kozlov.

Bill D
Calgary, AB

I would put Jason Blake 1st to get the team going because he has great speed and moves.  Next would be Alexei Yashin with his great shot.  Then last put Satan because he is a great player and has been extremely successful in the past.

Tyler Daly
Melbourne, FL

I would put out Miroslav Satan, Viktor Kozlov, and Alexei Yashin. All three of these players know exactly how to place the puck in any given spot. Satan and Kozlov tend to get fancy and Yashin stays more simple and just shoots the puck with raw power into open spots.

Chris D
West Babylon, NY

The three Islanders, from the current team, that I would want to see in the shootout are:
1) Miroslav Satan
2) Jason Blake
3) Bruno Gervais

Lauren
West Islip, NY

I think that based on past success the three needs to be Satan, Kozlov, and Hunter.  I am confident with those three against just about anybody, and DP is a shootout specialist.

Goldy
New York, NY

1. Would be Bates just because he is the fastest on skates.

2. Would be Yashin just because of his passion.

3. Would be Blake because one fake is all it will take.

Jimmy Engley
Ronkonkoma, NY
