GAME PREVIEW
Islanders (19-16-3) vs. Philadelphia (10-24-4)

(7:30 p.m. ET, TV: FSN  NY 2 | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) The Islanders will try to stop their three-game losing streak as they return home to play their division rival, the Philadelphia Flyers at the Nassau Coliseum.

The Islanders are 4-1-0 in the past five games at the Nassau Coliseum, including three consecutive shutouts during that span.

Despite dropping their last three games, the Islanders are right in the playoff mix, tied for ninth with the Boston and only one point out of seventh place, occupied by the Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jason Blake tallied his 22nd goal of the season on New Year's Day in a 3-1 loss to Buffalo. Blake is tied for sixth in the NHL, and only three behind the leaders, Alexander Ovechkin from Washington and Martin St. Louis from Tampa Bay.

Tonight will be the first time the Islanders play Philadelphia since trading for Freddy Meyer and Randy Robitaille. Meyer played in 83 games for the Flyers in three seasons, recording eight goals and 24 assists. Robitaille dressed for 28 games this season for the Flyers, compiling five goals and 12 assists.

The Flyers come into tonight's game having won their last two games, after sustaining a ten-game losing streak, including one overtime loss.

Against Carolina, on Sunday, Peter Forsberg assisted on three goals, while Kyle Calder scored the game-winner 6:23 into the third period to defeat the Hurricanes 5-2. Robert Esche made 40 saves to earn the victory. The Flyers managed only 19 shots on goal. Esche was also in goal against Tampa Bay on Thursday, stopping 42 of 45 shots for the win.

In the past two games, the Peter Forsberg-Simon Gagne-Mike Knuble line is looking as strong as ever, combining for four goals and seven assists in their two most recent wins.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY 2.
