GAME PREVIEW
Islanders (21-21-4) at Philadelphia (11-30-4)

(7:00 p.m. ET, TV: FSN  NY | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) The Islanders play in their final game before the All-Star break when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center.

This is the fourth meeting of eight between these division rivals and the second of four matchups at the Wachovia Center. The last time the teams met in Philadelphia was on November 9, when the Islanders won 3-1 behind two goals from Alexei Yashin, one goal from Richard Park and 32 saves by Rick DiPietro.

Park more recently, tallied a 3-on-5 shorthanded goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was the first time in 14 years the Islanders scored while two men short. Not much else went right for the Islanders on Tuesday, who dropped their third game in a row, including one in overtime. Radek Martinek returned to the lineup earlier than expected after missing nine games with a broken foot. He logged over 17 minutes of ice time and was even in the plus/minus department.

Brendan Witt antagonized the Penguins by laying out Sidney Crosby cleanly at center ice. Ryan Whitney and Ryan Malone came to Crosby's rescue. Malone and Witt ultimately squared off, but neither player landed any significant punches. The Islanders ultimately lost 5-2 when Pittsburgh scored three goals in the third period.s

The Flyers have been struggling all season, and are in another extended dry spell having lost seven games in a row. They most recently faltered against the Penguins by the score of 5-3. Evgeni Malkin led the way, scoring two goals and adding an assist.

Philadelphia's lone representative for the All-Star game is Simon Gagne, who will join Jason Blake.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY.
