HAVOC LINE REVVED UP BY FAMILIAR FACES
Students were waiting outside for hours to not just purchase tickets for $19, but to also meet General Manager Garth Snow, Islanders defenseman Bruno Gervais, and FSNY commentators Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe.
The Havoc Zone line was first greeted by Gervais, who had a smile on his face for the entire 90 minutes he chatted and signed autographs for some of the most raucous Islanders fans.
"It was great out here," said Gervais. "It was fun walking down the entire line and meeting all the fans. I couldn't walk away until I spoke to every fan, since they took the time to wait out here for so long in the cold."
Gervais was the just the start, as Snow came out shortly afterwards to a thunderous applause from the fans waiting in line. Next, surprise guests Rose and Jaffe of the FSN broadcast team joined Snow and Gervais to add to the infectious buzz that consumed the excited fans. There was chanting, cheering and countless camera flashes as the 1,400 Islanders fans received a thrill before they even entered the arena.
"This is the best thing the Islanders have ever done," said Nicole from Huntington. "It's been my lifelong dream to meet the Islanders, and tonight I fulfilled that dream," added Nicole's friend, Jesie. "This is our ninth time in the Havoc Zone, and the atmosphere is like nothing else we've experienced. You're hanging out with your peers and high-fiving all over the place."
