GAME PREVIEW
Islanders (31-23-8) vs. Philadelphia (16-37-9)

(7:30 p.m. ET, TV: FSN NY | Radio: Bloomberg 1130) With their re-tooled offense, the Islanders look to continue their 2007 post-season push against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at the Nassau Coliseum.

Yesterday, the Islanders acquired scoring Slovak Richard Zednik from the Washington Capitals for a 2007 second-round pick. Zednik has eclipsed the 30-goal plateau and twice reached the 50-point plateau. Head coach Ted Nolan said this morning that he would play on a line with Miroslav Satan and Viktor Kozlov and could see time on the penalty kill as well.

Ted Nolan and the rest of the team will try to put the trade deadline behind them and get back to business. Before the news of the hour became Å“who would go and who would say,Â? the Islanders continued to roll during their seven-game home stand.

On Saturday, they improved to 4-1 during their recent stretch by defeating the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 at the Nassau Coliseum. Danish rookie Frans Nielsen recorded his first career point in the first period when he assisted on Jeff Tambellini™s goal and then notched his first NHL career goal in the second period. Rick DiPietro recorded his 27th win and is only three shy of tying his career-high of 30, set last year.

The Islanders™ win gave them three in a row and points in 14 of their past 16 games. However, despite temporarily sitting in the seventh spot with Montreal, the Islanders now find themselves back in ninth place after not playing since Saturday. They trail sixth-place Atlanta by four points, Montreal by two and Carolina by one. Fortunately for the Islanders, they have games in hand on the three teams ahead of them Atlanta (3), Montreal (3) and Carolina (2).

The Islanders look to continue their winning ways against a new-look Philadelphia team that visits Long Island. After making a number of trades, the Flyers have become younger since the teams last met. The Flyers acquired former Nashville first-round pick Scottie Upshall, along with a prospect and draft picks for Peter Forsberg. On defense the Flyers shipped away Alexei Zhitnik to Atlanta, but added Finn Lasse Kukkonen from Chicago in a three-way trade with Detroit and Chicago. The Flyers sent underachiever Kyle Calder to Detroit.

Despite the unloading by Philadelphia, the Flyers have a young and hungry team with players trying to earn spots on next year™s roster. The Islanders will look to come out hard against an inexperienced team and win their fourth in a row to jump back into the playoff mix.

Chris King and Steve Mears have the call on Bloomberg Radio 1130, while Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe can be seen tonight on FSN NY.

For those of you not in the New York area, you can catch King and Mears' Bloomberg Radio broadcast on XM Satellite Radio, channel 205.
