Welcome to the special playoff edition of NYI Weekly Prospect Watch. It was a jam-packed weekend with the completion of the NCAA conference playoffs. The Islanders have five of their prospects making the trip to the NCAA tournament next week -- Kyle Okposo (Minnesota), Shea Guthrie (Clarkson), Tyrell Mason (Clarkson), Jase Weslosky (St. Cloud) and Wes O'Neill (Notre Dame).

In the Canadian junior leagues, four Islanders prospects are in their respective playoffs Andrew MacDonald (Moncton in the QMJHL), Robin Figren (Calgary in the WHL), Dustin Kohn (Brandon in the WHL) and Tomas Marcinko (Barrie in the OHL). Here is their up-to-date stats as well as the other Islanders prospects throughout North America and Europe.
 

Name: Robin Figren
Position: Left Wing
Team: Calgary (39-26-3-4)^
League: WHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 third-round draft pick (70th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (62), Goals (10), Assists (17), Points (27), PIM (54)
Update: Calgary earned the No. 2 seed in the Central Division and will take on No. 3 Lethbridge later this week. Figren led all Calgary freshmen in goals (10) and points (27).

 
Name: Shea Guthrie
Position: Wing
Team: Clarkson (25-8-5, ECACHL (13-5-4)
League: ECACHL
Acquired: Islanders 2005 third-round draft pick (76th overall)
Stats to date: GP (35), Goals (8), Assists (23), Points (31), PIM (30)
Update: Clarkson defeated Quinnipiac in the finals of the ECACHL Championship for their fifth title in team history. Guthrie tallied two assists in Clarkson's 4-2 championship victory. The Golden Knights earned a No. 1 seed in the next week's NCAA Tournament, and will travel to the Rochester regional to take on Hockey East foe, U Mass.

Position: Wing
Team: Assat (15-35-6)
League: SM-Liiga (FIN)
Acquired: 2006 second-round draft pick (60th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (52), Goals (9), Assists (17), Points (26)
Update: After finishing second-to-last in the league, Assat failed to make the playoffs. Joensuu ranked tied for fifth on the team with 26 points.

 
Name: Kim Johansson
Position: Center
Team: Malmo (2-2-0)
League: J20 SuperElit (SWE)
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fifth-round draft pick (141st overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (4), Goals (0), Assists (2), Points (2), PIM (10)
Update: Malmo defeated Mora in the opening round of the playoffs before bowing out in the next round to Frolunda. Johansson tallied two assists in the four playoff games.


Name: Dustin Kohn
Position: Defenseman
Team: Brandon (36-19-2-8)^
League: WHL
Acquired: Islanders 2005 second-round draft pick (46th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (61), Goals (5), Assists (45), Points (50), PIM (77)
Update: Brandon will take on the number one team in the East Division, Moose Jaw in the opening round of the WHL playoffs. Kohn finished third in the league in assists among defensemen with 45 and tied for eighth in points with 50.

 
Name: Andrew MacDonald
Position: Defenseman
Team: Moncton (39-25-4-2)^
League: QMJHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 sixth-round draft pick (160th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (65), Goals (14), Assists (44), Points (58), PIM (81)
Update: Moncton picked up the third seed in the Eastern Division for the playoffs. They will take on No. 6 Halifax in the first round starting later this week. MacDonald placed second on the team in assists with 44 and third in points with 58.

 
Name: Tomas Marcinko
Position: Center
Team: Barrie (48-19-0-1)^
League: OHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fourth-round draft pick (114th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (56), Goals (19), Assists (21), Points (40), PIM (50)
Update: Barrie earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference and will take on Brampton in the opening round of the playoffs. Marcinko led all Barrie rookies in goals (19), assists (21) and points (40).

 
Name: Tyrell Mason
Position: Defensemen
Team: Clarkson (25-8-5, ECACHL 13-5-4)
League: ECACHL
Acquired: Islanders 2005 sixth-round draft pick (180th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (38), Goals (1), Assists (11), Points (12), PIM (62)
Update: Clarkson defeated Quinnipiac in the finals of the ECACHL Championship for their fifth title in team history. Mason and the Golden Knights defense limited the opposition to seven goals in four ECACHL playoff games. Clarkson earned a No. 1 seed in the next week's NCAA Tournament, and will travel to the Rochester regional to take on Hockey East foe U-Mass.
 

Name: Troy Mattila
Position: Left Wing
Team: Springfield (25-28-4)
League: NAHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 seventh-round draft pick (190th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (11), Goals (10), Assists (5), Points (15), PIM (2)
Update: Springfield is two points out of a playoff spot with just over a week left in regular season play. Mattila continues to shine on his new team, contributing a goal and an assist in an 8-2 win over St. Louis on Saturday.


Name: Kyle Okposo
Position: Right Wing
Team: Minnesota (30-9-3, 18-7-3 WCHA)
League: WCHA
Acquired: Islanders 2006 first-round draft pick (7th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (38), Goals (19), Assists (20), Points (38), PIM (34)
Update: Minnesota claimed the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament by capturing the WCHA title with a 3-2 overtime win over North Dakota. Okposo contributed two goals in the WCHA playoffs and ranks first on the team with 19 goals. The Golden Gophers take on Atlantic Hockey champ, Air Force in the opening round of the 16-team NCAA Tournament.


Name: Wes O'Neill
Position: Defenseman
Team: Notre Dame (31-6-3, 21-4-3 CCHA)
League: CCHA
Acquired: Islanders 2004 fourth-round draft pick (114th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (40), Goals (3), Assists (18), Points (21), PIM (36)
Update: Notre Dame captured their first ever CCHA regular season title a few weeks ago and followed that up with their first CCHA playoff title this past weekend by knocking off Michigan 2-1. The No. 1 defense in the nation allowed only three goals in four playoff contests. O'Neill contributed three goals and one assist in the CCHA playoffs, while earning a spot on the All-Tournament team. Notre Dame earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and will face off against CHA champion, Alabama-Huntsville.

 
Name: Rhett Rakhshani
Position: Right Wing
Team: Denver (21-15-4, 13-11-4 WCHA)
League: WCHA
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fourth-round draft pick (100th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (40), Goals (10), Assists (26), Points (36), PIM (38)
Update: Denver's season came to an end when they lost to defending NCAA champion, Wisconsin in the WCHA Quarterfinals. Rakhshani and the Pioneers did not have a strong enough season to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. Rakhshani finished first on the team in assists with 26 and third in points with 36.

 
Name: Stefan Ridderwall
Position: Goaltender
Team: Djurgardens (2-0-0)
League: J20 SuperElit (SWE)
Acquired: Islanders 2006 sixth-round draft pick (173rd overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (2), GAA (1.50), SV% (.951)
Update: Djurgardens earned a bye into the second round of the playoffs. There, they defeated Brynas in a best-of-three series to earn a trip into the semis against HV 71. Ridderwall started in both playoff games and allowed only three goals.

 
Name: Doug Rogers
Position: Center
Team: Harvard (14-17-2, 10-10-2 ECACHL)
League: ECACHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fourth-round draft pick (100th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (33), Goals (7), Assists (17), Points (24), PIM (18)
Update: This is the first time in six years that Harvard failed to make the NCAA Tournament. Harvard bowed out of the ECACHL Tournament in the quarters against Clarkson. Rogers finished second on the team in points in his freshman year.

 
Name: Shane Sims
Position: Defenseman
Team: Des Moines (26-17-7)
League: USHL
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fifth-round draft pick (126th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (49), Goals (8), Assists (16), Points (24), PIM (121)
Update: Des Moines has gone 2-0-1 in their past three games, but sit in second-to-last place in the division and out of a playoff spot at the moment. They have less than a month to move up in the standings.

 
Name: Igor Volkov
Position: Forward
Team: Ufa (30-1-12-1-10)*
League: Russian Super League
Acquired: Islanders 2003 eighth-round draft pick (246th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (53), Goals (12), Assists (11), Points (23), PIM (44)
Update: Ufa has earned a trip to the Russian Super League playoffs by finishing third in the league.

 
Name: Jase Weslosky
Position: Goaltender
Team: St. Cloud State (22-10-7, 14-7-7 WCHA)
League: WCHA
Acquired: Islanders 2006 fourth-round draft pick (108th overall)
Stats to date: Record (5-1-0), GAA (2.67), SV% (.899)
Update: Despite losing in the semifinals of the WCHA playoffs, St. Cloud earned an at-large bid into the NCAAs, and will face Maine in the opening round.
