There he was 3-11-14 in 15 regular season games before playing a pivotal role in the team's run to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Bourne led Alaska in his senior year with 31 points and 21 assists, while ranking second in goals with ten. The rugged power forward led all Bridgeport rookies with 12 goals, 31 assists, 43 points, four power play goals and two shorthanded tallies. Comeau's hard work at Bridgeport earned him three games with the Islanders, with whom he made his NHL debut on Dec 7 versus Montreal.

Figren made his North American hockey debut last season, playing for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. Figren led all Calgary rookies in goals with ten and points with 27. He was especially impressive in the postseason, helping to guide the Hitmen into the third round. Figren finished the postseason 4-4-8 in 18 games.

Maxime Gratchev (LW)

In his 14th game he tallied his first NHL goal – a game winner – and an assist versus Montreal on Feb 24. Nielsen spent most of the year playing in his first season with Bridgeport, where he was 20-24-44 in 54 games. The Islanders' 2002 third round pick proved his effectiveness in all situations, tallying four power play goals and a team-leading three shorthanded goals.

The St. Paul native didn't disappoint, helping lead the University of Minnesota to a nation best record of 26-7-3 during the regular season. Okposo finished second on the team as a freshman in goals with 19 and points with 40. His three game-winning goals and six power play goals were both tied for third on the team. The Islanders' eighth round pick in 2004 finished his first season with Bridgeport 9-10-19 in 76 games. His 19 points were good for third best on the team among rookies. If Pitton makes the jump to the NHL in the future, he won't be the only late-round selection from that year to reach the highest level. Chris Campoli was drafted in 2004 just one round earlier.
