TEAM BOSSY CLINCHES MINI-CAMP TOURNEY
Nokelainen seals the win in the shootout

Team Bossy celebrates the victory
In front of a packed Iceworks crowd, Islanders 2004 first-round draft pick Petteri Nokelainen scored in the sixth-round of the shootout session to secure Sunday's Mini-Camp game for Scott Boggs' Team Bossy by the score of 6-4. The win clinches the Camp series for Team Bossy, which has won the first two games. Team Bossy will go for the three-game sweep tomorrow.

Boggs' squad took a 4-2 advantage into the shootout session with late goals by 2007 draft pick Jason Gregoire and Sound Tigers defenseman Jamie Fraser. Gregoire finished the day with two goals and one assist, while Fraser chipped in with two goals, including one in the shootout, and one assist.

Boggs tried a tactical move by stacking one forward line with all Bridgeport prospects – Jeff Tambellini, Nokelainen and Blake Comeau. The strategy paid off, but it was another line that did most of the scoring. The line of Gregoire, free agent signing Trevor Smith and free agent Justin Bourne compiled three goals and four assists to lead Team Bossy to victory.

"I spoke with Director of Amateur Scouting Ryan Jankowski about my talented players," said Boggs. "That's where I got all my inside scoop about my players. We wanted to bring all of their attention to our top guys and let the rest of the guys do their jobs"

Today's game started out as tightly as yesterday's game. Team Trottier got things going late in the first when Frans Nielsen found recent signing Sean Bentivoglio in front for a tap-in goal past free agent goaltender John Murray. Islanders 2006 first-round pick Kyle Okposo also picked up an assist.

Team Bossy countered in the final minute of the first frame to even the score at one. After receiving a pass from Fraser, Gregoire found Bourne, who slid the puck by Stefan Ridderwall.

"The goal happened because of two nifty little passes," said Bourne. "Fraser gave the puck over to Greger, who slid a nice backhand pass over to me. I knew I had the goalie if I shot it quickly."

In the second period, Team Trottier regained the lead when Nielsen rifled a slap shot past Mike Mole with less than five minutes remaining.

Okposo had a couple of opportunities in the third to put Team Trottier up by two, but he was denied by the post and Mole's left skate.

It was the Gregoire-Smith-Bourne line that would strike next. With goaltender Jase Weslosky down, Gregoire flipped the puck over him to make it a 2-2 game. When Islanders radio play-by-play broadcaster and today's PA announcer Steve Mears announced the goal was from "Bourne from Hart," a number of fans turned their heads to acknowledge the history of those two names in Islanders history.

"I've known Jordy for a year, so I can't relate to that nostalgia," admitted Bourne. "But I hope others can remember our dads when they played."

In the final five minutes, the Gregoire line orchestrated two more goals to help Team Bossy grab a 4-2 lead, before moving into the shootout session.

"Our line had three Canadians, which pretty much says it all," said Gregoire with a smile. "We got into a rhythm, fed off each other and communicated well. I couldn't be happier with our line."

Shea Guthrie and Rhett Rakhshani tallied goals in the shootout for Team Trottier, but Fraser and Nokelainen salted the game away for Bossy, which takes on Team Trottier tomorrow at 10 am.

"We're not going to change anything tomorrow," said Boggs. "If they change things up, we'll adjust to it. It's still a meaningful game tomorrow. Some of the guys talked about going to the hardware store and picking up some industrial brooms, but I told them to just focus on the third game. We'll worry about the sweep when it happens."

Three Stars of the Game
1. Jason Gregoire: All over the ice creating chances, 2G, 1A
2. Jamie Fraser: Jumped into the play well, 2G, 1A
