Sleek new Islanders Store re-opens in Broadway Mall and includes new merchandise and bi-weekly autograph sessions

There has never been a better time to visit the Islanders Team Store at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville. After over a month of renovating, the store looks fresh and includes more Islanders apparel, collectibles and memorabilia than ever before.

From the outside, the Islanders Team Store looks as trendy as any of the high-end clothing apparel stores lined throughout the mall, but don't worry folks, there's no Banana Republic gear in here. It's All Islanders.

One of the most impressive features of the new store are the 12-foot high Islanders figurines that guard the entrance, but at the same time catch any passer-byes' attention. Upon entering the store, customers' eyes might initially gravitate to the back towards the stunning memorabilia section. But fans shouldn't go straight to the back, because they will be missing plenty in between.

"One of my favorite parts about the store is that the large sculptures first draw you into the store," said Terry Goldstein, Director of Merchandise. "But it's the collectible section in the back that draws you through the entire store, so you'll be swayed to look at everything."

Two of the most prominent features of the new store are the Bill Guerin and Rick DiPietro lockers, which will be your one-stop locations for everything Guerin and DiPietro. From jerseys to shirts to DiPietro bears, consumers won't have to look far to find collectibles on their captain and goaltender.

Speaking of Guerin, the Islanders Team Store is the only place you can find lettered and numbered t-shirts of the Islanders' new captain and Mike Comrie. So come on down to the store to be the first on your block to sport two of the newest players on the Islanders' roster.

If there's one thing the store has done a marvelous job of doing, it's making items easily accessible. From the openness of the layout to everything organized by sections, fans can find and buy what they need in a matter of minutes and be on their way.

"The new store has a simple, but clean design," said Goldstein. "You don't need to be a rocket scientist to navigate through the store. We tried to put items near each other that would go together. For example, we have the ladies hats next to the ladies apparel, so people won't have to go searching for the second item. I think the layout turned out very nicely."

Sections like the golf accessories and collectible pucks have been expanded and are prominently displayed in the middle of the store. To the left of the store there is nothing more noticeable than the assortment of hats. One can find Islanders hats in all shapes, colors and sizes. Come winter time, a hot item will be the wool Islanders hats located on either side of the hat shelf.

The back of the store will most likely be the highlight of people's visits through the revamped Team Store. There, you can purchase autographed pictures, sticks and game-used jerseys of past and present Islanders. Interested in the history of the Islanders, then nothing would be better than a signed picture by members of the 1980 Stanley Cup Champions.

With increased space in the back and moveable shelves, bi-weekly autograph sessions will now take place inside the store to create a more memorable experience. Check outside the store and on for the complete autograph schedule that includes current and former Islanders.

There is plenty of apparel and collectibles for children and adults like, but the Islanders didn't forget about the littlest Islanders fans. To the left of the counter, there is an entire section dedicated to the youngest Islanders fan on Long Island – the toddlers. Before kids can learn to walk they could be drinking out of an Islanders bottle.

For those passing through the store on a game night, the Islanders broadcast will be showed on one of the three flat screen TVs above the counter. If the game goes into overtime and it's past closing hours, fans are more than welcome to stay until the final horn.

After leaving the store, customers will feel like they've completed a journey rather than a simple shopping spree.

"Any Islanders fan should come to see all the new and exciting products and collectibles," said Goldstein. "The Team Store is the best place to shop for Islanders fans, old and young."
