This Saturday vs. Carolina and to include NCPD S.W.AT. repelling demonstration and patrol helicopter; Law Enforcement personnel receive up to 40% off tickets

The New York Islanders are hosting Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, and it's less than a week away when they host the Carolina Hurricanes at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 pm on Saturday. The day is dedicated to honoring the men and women of the Long Island and New York City Police Departments.

If you caught Fireighter Appreciation Night last Saturday, then you know the extra excitement the police pressence will bring to Saturday's contest against the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes.

Law enforcement personnel can receive a special discounted rate – up to 40% off box office prices – for this game if they call 1 800.882.ISLES, ext. 3 and mention the passcode “NYIPOLICE” as well as the unit they are a member of.  In addition, officers can purchase their discounted tickets at the Coliseum box office by showing proper ID.

The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Law Enforcement-themed Islanders cap, courtesy of Fox Sports New York. The limited edition hat is the second installment of a three-part, hat-themed series.

The day's festivities will begin at 4:30 with Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) equipment and demonstrations on display in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot.

Highlights from the pre-game exhibit will include a demonstration by the Bureau of Special Ops (BSO) S.W.A.T. unit, which will rappel down the side of the Coliseum, a Mobile Command Center bus, an Emergency Service Unit car and their equipment, K-9, bicycle and mounted police units as well as a highway patrol helicopter.

Throughout the pre-game festivities, a Pipe & Drum unit will be performing in the Coliseum plaza and box office as fans enter the arena.

The opening ceremony will contain members of the NCPD Color Guard and the NCPD Explorers Unit – youth recruits – who will accompany the players on the ice. The National Anthem will be sung by NCPD officer Brian Enoch.

An exciting opening ceremony will conclude when the BSO S.W.A.T. unit repels from the rafters to assist in the puck dropping.

The Pipe & Drum unit will return for a first period intermission performance on the ice.

A portion of the proceeds from Saturday's game will go towards local law enforcement charities.

Fans will not want to miss Law Enforcement Appreciation Night on October 27.
