ONE DAY AND COUNTING TO KIDS OPENER
A memorable day fast approaching; FREE DP Jersey for fans 14 and under, post-game on-ice shootout, Mascot Day, new NYI Family Fan Fest and so much more

Family Fun Packs – 4 tickets, food, Islanders hats and Dave & Buster's Power Card – available for $125

You won't find a more family-friendly event in major pro sports than Kids Opening Day with the New York Islanders, presented by RexCorp Islanders Inspire.

The tradition continues to grow in a big way when Rick DiPietro and the Islanders host superstar Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8 at 2:00 pm at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Among the highlights of Kids Opening Day:

FREE DiPIETRO JERSEY: All fans 14 and under will receive a Rick DiPietro team jersey!

POST-GAME KIDZ SHOOTOUT: After the game, children are invited on the Coliseum ice to take a shot on goal! And while you wait, you could get some shooting tips (and an autograph!) from an Islanders player.

NYI FAMILY FUN FEST STARTS AT NOON!: Arrive at the Coliseum early and join us on the Plaza for our new Family Fan Fest, featuring an obstacle course, giant slide, face painting, kids broadcasting station, interactive games and so much more.

MASCOTS GALORE: Starting at noon on the Plaza and continuing throughout the game, Sparky and his friends will entertain children of all ages. Sparky's buddies include Storm (Bridgeport Sound Tigers), Thrash (Atlanta), Stormy (Carolina), Gnash (Nashville), Blades (Boston) and Stinger (Columbus), and, as always, there will be plenty of surprise guests.

In addition, ALL activities during the game will be for the children. This means PA announcements of Islanders goals will be done by young Islander fans. All in-game giveaways will be for children. All scoreboard contests will be played by kids. And expect plenty of surprises throughout the day.

Thanks to Dave & Buster's and Nathan's, the Islanders are proud to introduce the Family Fun Pack for Kids' Opening Day and receive the following.

  • 4 tickets
  • 4 vouchers for hot dog and soda
  • 4 Islanders hats
  • 1 Dave & Buster's $10 Power Card

Valued at $300, the Islanders Family Fun Pack can be purchased for just $125.

Make Columbus Day a memorable experience for the whole family by attending an Islanders game at the Nassau Coliseum.

To purchase a family fun pack, please call the Islanders customer service department at 1 800 882 ISLES, ext. 2.

"I love Kids Opening Day because it's such a great event for families and our team feeds off the energy of the crowd," said Islanders head coach Ted Nolan. "Last year the crowd was into the game against Carolina from beginning to end, and I remember we scored late to tie it and then won in overtime. After our Home Opener, it will be fantastic when we have another jam-packed arena for Kids Opening Day. I hope everyone comes out on Columbus Day to support us when we battle the Capitals."
