Rexcorp Islanders Inspire brings smiles to more than a thousand children on Kids Opening Day


On a day celebrating the kids of Long Island, there was no better time to see the magic of Rexcorp Islanders Inspire than on Monday at the Kids Home Opener.

Decked out in their newly received Rick DiPietro youth jerseys, the over 1,200 kids who received free tickets courtesy of Rexcorp Islanders Inspire through the support of Bill Guerin, Mike Comrie, Rick DiPietro, Jon Sim, Ruslan Fedotenko and a host of other organizations and individuals paraded through the Coliseum concourse and watched today’s game with smiles as wide as can be.

With the Kids Opener being a hot ticket, the children were spread out all across the Nassau Coliseum as they showed their pride for the Islanders, their organizations and their favorite players with hand-made signs.

“It was a great day for everyone involved,” said Tony Bandelato, the Executive Director of the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club. “It provided an opportunity for our youngsters to become more familiar with the Islanders and hockey. Many of our kids lack the funds to be able to attend events like these, so this was their chance to experience something different.”
