Your stop for quick stats on the Islanders the morning after each game.

STANDINGS: With last night's 2-3 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, the Islanders remain in third place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 12-8-1 for 25 points after 21 games. The team is now three points behind each the Philadelphia Flyers (23 games) and New York Rangers (24 games) in the division.

Having played in fewer games than any other team in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders sit in a seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

MAKING A KILLING:  The Islanders' penalty kill now ranks fifth in the NHL with an 86.9 percent success rate after defending off all five of Dallas’ chances last night. On the road, the team kills off 87.2 percent of the opposition's power plays, while at home, they are at 86.5 percent.

SHOOTOUT???: The Islanders are only one of four teams in the NHL not to have had one of their games go to the shootout this season. Twenty-one games into the season, the Islanders have only played in two overtime games and have a 1-1 record. 

RICK'S RANK:  Rick DiPietro is tied for third in the NHL with 11 wins in goal. He is also one of five NHL goaltenders with two assists on the offensive side.  Rick has nine assist in the NHL career.

JO'S BIG SHOT:  Josef Vasicek leads the Islanders' scoring attack with eight goals. Jo's netted those goals by only taking 28 shots. That gives the first-year Islander a 28.6 shooting percentage, which is good for second best in the NHL. 

GETTING IN THE WAY: Brendan Witt leads the team and is fifth in the NHL in blocked shots with 61. Last season, he finished fifth the league with a total of 207.

I'LL TAKE IT: Mike Sillinger once again leads the Islanders with a 54.7 faceoff winning percentage. He also ranks sixth in the NHL by taking 34.8 percent of the Islanders faceoffs. Last season, Sillinger ranked fourth in the NHL with a 58.8 faceoff winning percentage.
