Players pumped for the Kids Free game on Monday against the Bruins

Following the Islanders' Holiday free-tickets-for-kids announcement for Monday's game against the Boston Bruins, Ted Nolan and the players were amazed by the latest act of generosity of the organization and are looking forward to a loud Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

"The Coliseum on many nights is the loudest building in the entire NHL," said Islanders head coach Ted Nolan. "Having all the kids here on Monday night is going to make for an exhilarating atmosphere. That's going to be a big boost for our team."

Rick DiPietro, expected to start on Monday night against the Bruins, echoed his coach's thoughts.

"You know all those kids are going to cheer as loud as possible," said DiPietro. "We can hear them and it helps us get even more pumped up for games at the Coliseum."

Captain Bill Guerin applauded the work the Islanders have done to promote the sport to young Long Islanders.

"The Islanders show all the time how dedicated they are to bringing the game of hockey to the next generation," said Guerin. "I'm proud of the work we've done with Rexcorp Islanders Inspire. I think it's incredible that we're reaching out to every youngster on Long Island and opening the doors to them so they can see Monday's game for free."

All kids 16 and under can pick up their complimentary tickets at the Coliseum Box Office beginning at 5:00 pm on the night of the game. The purchase of adult tickets is not required to receive the complimentary tickets for children.
This unprecedented gift to Long Island children is made possible through RexCorp Islanders Inspire, a program of the New York Islanders Children's Foundation which has already made arrangements to bring more than 10,000 children to Islanders home games this season.
"Taking the Islanders and the NHL to children is an important step," said veteran defenseman Brendan Witt. "This is the greatest game in the world and it's a great sport for kids. What our franchise is doing with this game on Monday is outstanding. My family will be there and I hope so will thousands of Long Islanders so the arena is full for a very big game against the Bruins."

The United States Marines, in conjunction with the Islanders Children's Foundation, will host a Toys for Tots drive outside the Coliseum box office on Monday starting at 5:00 pm. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys so other children in our community can also benefit from Monday's game.
Please note that once the fans pick up their complimentary tickets on Monday beginning at 5:00 pm, they must enter the Coliseum. This guarantees that the free tickets go to the children on a first-come, first served basis.
Doors to the arena will open one hour early, at 5:00 pm, for this unparalleled event. Prior to the game, the holiday spirit will be in the air with Sparky and the Ice Girls, holiday music and special surprises in store for the children. Young fans will have the opportunity to make Islanders signs for the game and receive gifts including Santa hats and Islanders Yearbooks.

"We've already had a lot of big games at the Coliseum this season," said defenseman Chris Campoli. "With so many kids in the Coliseum on Monday, I have no doubt this will be a memorable night."
